Corridor — a thru-hiking app for one hiker, one trail at a time

Get in touch

Email beiserjohannes@gmail.com. One person reads it, usually within a few days. Say which trail you are on and roughly which kilometre, and include a screenshot if something looks wrong on the map.

Common questions

The map is blank. The trail's map is a separate download. Open Settings inside the app and check the trail's row — it will say whether the map is present, still downloading, or failed. Downloads continue while the app is closed.

Can I use it without a signal? Yes. That is the point. Once a trail's map has downloaded, everything works with the phone in airplane mode. There is no server to reach.

Something on the map is wrong. Most of the map comes from OpenStreetMap and most of the trail's own line comes from the trail organisation's published track. If a hut, a water source or a path is wrong, tell me where and I will look at it for the next update.

A water source was dry. Water is a mapper's best guess, and on some trails it carries hikers' own reports. Treat every source as unconfirmed and carry accordingly.

How do I see the tutorials again? Settings → Show the tours again.

Which trails are there? Te Araroa, the Great Divide Trail and the Pacific Crest Trail. More are being added.

Reporting a safety problem

Corridor is a planning and navigation aid, not a substitute for a paper map, a compass, or the trail organisation's own current notices. River levels, closures and ferry timetables change; always check the official source before you commit to a crossing.
